On 19–20 May 2026, Wrocław will host the training and workshop event “Sustainable Destinations in Practice – On the Road to Certification”, organised by the Polish Tourism Organisation in cooperation with the Wrocław Tourism Organisation and the Lower Silesia Tourism Organisation.
The event is addressed to representatives of local governments, tourism organisations, tourism industry professionals, and individuals involved in tourism development and promotion. The meeting will provide practical knowledge on implementing sustainable tourism principles and preparing destinations for participation in the National Sustainable Tourism Destination Certification Programme.
Two days of expert knowledge and practical workshops
The programme has been divided into two days.
The first day will focus on expert presentations, case studies, and discussions on international sustainable tourism standards. Participants will learn about GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) standards and the Green Destinations model, both widely used by destinations around the world.
The second day will consist of practical workshops. Participants will analyse the potential of their regions, explore certification criteria, and develop recommendations for actions that can be implemented in tourism destinations.
The programme includes:
- GSTC standards and the Green Destinations model,
- preparing regions for certification,
- best practices from Poland and abroad,
- implementation workshops,
- destination identity analysis,
- tourism data collection and analysis.
Wrocław as the host city for Western Poland
Wrocław will host the meeting for the Western Poland Macroregion. The event aims to create a platform for exchanging experiences, strengthening cooperation, and developing solutions that support more responsible and modern tourism development.
The National Sustainable Tourism Destination Certification Programme is based on international standards and is designed to support regions in building a high-quality tourism offer that takes into account the needs of residents, the environment, and local economies.
