The golden honorary badge of Wrocław WROCŁAW WITH GRATITUDE – WRATISLAVIA GRATO ANIMO for Piotr Oszczanowski and the silver one for Marek Ciechanowski during the Lower Silesian Gala on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2024
On the occasion of the celebration of World Tourism Day, the Lower Silesian Chamber of Tourism, together with the Wrocław City Hall, the Wrocław Tourism Organisation, the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, and the Lower Silesian Tourist Organization, invited representatives of local governments and entrepreneurs from the tourism industry to celebrate together! This year’s celebrations took place on October 7 in Wrocław at the Ibis Styles Hotel.
A special moment of the celebrations was the ceremony of awarding the awards of the President of Wrocław, which were awarded to people who made a special contribution to the development of tourism in Wrocław. These awards are intended to appreciate their contribution and involvement in creating an attractive tourist offer and for special contributions to the City.
The awards were presented by Vice-President Jakub Mazur and Vice-President of the Wrocław City Council, Magdalena Razik-Trziszka.
For services to Wrocław, gold and silver honorary badge of Wrocław WROCŁAW WITH GRATITUDE – WRATISLAVIA GRATO ANIMO
The gold badge was awarded to Mr. Piotr Oszczanowski, professor, habilitated doctor, director of the National Museum in Wrocław, a Polish art historian, doctor of humanities, specialist in ancient art, mainly modern art. Since 2014, director of the National Museum in Wrocław.
Founding member of the Wrocław Tourimt Organisation and member of the Tourism Council of the President of Wrocław.
“Referring to today’s ceremony, I would like to draw your attention to the tourist dimension of the Director’s activities. It is no secret to anyone that, as elsewhere in Europe, in Poland and finally in Wrocław, the basic and most important tourist product is cultural heritage. Fully aware of this, the professor accepted the position of a member of the Wrocław Tourism Council and then became a co-founder of the Wrocław Tourism Organization, which he supports on many levels. Particularly noteworthy here is the substantive contribution of the director in creating the historical and scientific foundations for the script of the film promoting Wrocław. – Wrocław City of Adventure. The silver badge was awarded to Mr. Marek Ciechanowski, President of the Lower Silesian Chamber of Tourism, associated with tourism for over 40 years. As president, Mr. Ciechanowski is involved in activities aimed at revitalizing the tourism sector, especially in the context of the challenges resulting from the pandemic. He is also a member of the Wrocław Tourism Council.
“The fact that today it is impossible to imagine that someone seriously involved in tourism in Poland did not know his name, he earned thanks to his approach to cooperation, responsibility, solidarity, mutual respect – to these values that constitute the foundation of thinking about tourism in Wrocław and work in tourism. […] The experience and extensive knowledge shared in these numerous bodies are an invaluable treasure and value. But also a natural openness and ability to notice new trends, needs and a creative approach to the constantly changing and often surprising environment reality” (fragment of laudation)

Mrs. Danuta Nawrocka Ślażyk – in tourism for almost 40 years, long-time member of the Management Board of the Lower Silesian Tourism Organization, awarded several times with numerous certificates and distinctions for merits.
Mrs. Anna Maria Mażanowicz – professionally involved in tourism for 29 years. Currently, he serves as treasurer at the Lower Silesian Chamber of Tourism. He is also the president of the Discover the Unknown Foundation, where he implements many projects, including: city and field games.
Mrs. Barbara Zabieglik – has been associated with Wrocław tourism all her professional life, she has worked at various levels in tourist offices, currently a press spokesman and vice-president of the Lower Silesian Chamber of Tourism.
The Wrocław Branch of PTTK is one of the oldest branches in Lower Silesia and also one of the largest in Poland. It was established in 1952 and currently has almost 750 members.
Additionally, during the ceremony, the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesia Voivodeship, Certificates of the Polish Tourist Organization at the provincial level and awards of tour operators for innovative initiatives promoting Lower Silesia were presented.
