In 2024, Wrocław attracted a record number of tourists – 6.6 million people visited the capital of Lower Silesia. That’s an increase of 600,000 compared to the previous year. The city’s dynamic tourism growth confirms its position as one of the most popular destinations in Poland.
Wrocław – A Year-Round Tourist Destination
Visitors are drawn to Wrocław for its picturesque landmarks, over 130 bridges, scenic boulevards, and a vibrant cultural scene. Data shows that 3.5 million were overnight tourists, while 3.1 million visited for the day. Among those who stayed overnight, 26% were international tourists, primarily from Germany, the Czech Republic, the UK, and France.
December also broke records – with over 700,000 visitors, the Christmas Market proved once again to be one of Poland’s top winter attractions.

These four attractions were visited by over 2.6 million people in 2024. Wrocław residents also played a role in tourism – 22% hosted guests from other cities and countries, proudly showcasing the city’s highlights.
Tourism Fuels the City’s Development
Tourism generated nearly PLN 450 million for the city budget – from taxes, transportation, and municipal services. The sector also provides significant employment – 8% of Wrocław’s residents work in tourism-related industries.
“Tourism is also a magnet for foreign investment. Positive word-of-mouth about Wrocław translates into growing business interest,”
said Radosław Michalski, Director of the City Branding Department.
Wrocław Airport Sets New Records
The success of Wrocław Airport also contributed to tourism growth. In 2024, it handled 4.5 million passengers, including 2.22 million arrivals – a 15% increase compared to 2023. More and more visitors are choosing to travel to the city by air.
Wrocław’s Promotion Strategy Pays Off
A major factor in the city’s success was the “City of Adventure” campaign, which won 8 international awards, including the CIFFT 2024 award for the world’s best city promotion spot.
“Domestic campaigns are already delivering results. International efforts – especially those from 2024 – are expected to boost tourism further in 2025,”
emphasized Alfred Wagner, Deputy Director of the Promotion and Tourism Department and Head of the Wrocław Tourism Organization.
Plans for the Future
Wrocław continues to look ahead – upcoming efforts include targeted promotional campaigns in Arab and Asian markets, additional training for tourism industry professionals, and building a tourism brand around the Oder River, one of the city’s most distinctive assets.
