On December 4-5, 2023, the Department of Tourism of the University of Physical Education. Polish Olympians in Wrocław, in cooperation with the Convention Bureau – Wrocław and the Wrocław Tourist Organisation, organized the 5th European Tourism Forum. The event took place on the premises of the Academy and at the Novotel&ibis Wrocław Centrum Hotel.

This year’s edition, which is the fifth edition of the Forum, returned to the Wrocław conference map after years of break. The first day of the Forum began at the Polish Olympians Academy of Physical Education, where numerous university authorities gathered, headed by Prof. Ph.D. Andrzej Rokita. Inaugural lecture entitled “The introduction of the euro in Poland and the prospects for the development of outbound and inbound tourism” was delivered by prof. Ph.D. Marian Noga from WSB Merito University in Wrocław. The guests also included representatives of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism (MSiT), the Polish Tourist Organization (POT) and the Wrocław City Hall (UMW). Apart from the Rector, Radosław Michalski (Director of the Promotion and Tourism Department of the Medical University of Warsaw) and the organizers also addressed the audience with words of welcome. The following speakers were the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Hab. Piotr Oleśniewicz, prof. AWF, and the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Ph.D. Daniel Puciato, prof. AWF. The welcome was joined by the President of CBW, Wiktoria Król-Cieciorowska, and Alfred Wagner, President of the Wrocław Tourist Organization. The Secretary of State at MSiT, Mr. Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, also addressed the gathered lists.

Representatives of 20 research centers participated in the Forum and four plenary sessions

from all over Poland and members of the Wrocław tourism business, led by members of the Wrocław Tourist Organization. The event was interdisciplinary in nature, covering 16 issues from many thematic areas, including social, natural and spatial aspects, as well as physical culture and health sciences. 23 scientific papers were presented during the Forum, and one of the sessions was entirely devoted to the issues included in the document entitled “Tourism Development Program for Wrocław in 2024–2030”.

On the second day of the Forum, held at the Novotel&ibis Wrocław Centrum hotel, participants had the opportunity not only to deliver papers, but also to participate in workshops. The first of them focused on a practical approach to digital marketing in tourism, while the second emphasized the importance of ESG in creating a tourism business.

The 5th European Tourism Forum was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the Polish Tourist Organization and the Polski Holding Hotelowy Group. The substantive patron was the Poland Convention Bureau POT. The Rector of the University of Physical Education also granted their honorary patronage. Polish Olympians and the Mayor of Wrocław.

The organizer of the Forum was the Polish Olympians Academy of Physical Education, together with the Convention Bureau – Wrocław and the Wrocław Tourist Organization.

There was also an accompanying program during which participants could visit Wrocław, feel the festive atmosphere of the Fair, and discover the spaces of the Centennial Hall complex. The next edition of the Forum will take place in two years.
